Self-Care Tips to Try out During Quarantine

Hey, Annie here. Let's talk about ways you can take care of yourself during this quarantine. The world has been on lockdown for weeks now. I don't know about you, but I can get pretty restless throughout the day.

Some days, I'm just in a funk and I don't know how to snap out of it. Sometimes, all it takes is implementing a few self-care tips. To take care of yourself means to nourish your mind, body, and soul in a healthy way.

While sleep, snacks, and Netflix binges are great, too much of a good thing can be detrimental; but you'll never regret taking care of yourself. 

Learn Something New


It's important to stay mentally engaged. When was the last time you gave your brain a workout? Try learning how to play an instrument, speak a new language, or how to cook! Is there a language that you've always wanted to learn, but never had the time?

Maybe you've always wanted to learn how to play the ukulele, guitar, piano, or violin! Imagine cooking a delicious feast for your friends and family.

If you're bored, anxious, or restless, it can be helpful to focus on learning. Now is your opportunity to learn something new and exciting!

I finally dusted off all of the old board games that were lying around on the shelf. My partner and I have been playing A LOT of Chinese Checkers. At fist we just saw it as a way to pass the time, but now we're really getting into it.

Pull out some of your old games that you may have forgotten about. Rummikub, Blokus, Dominoes, and Pictionary are all great games once you get into it.

If you have a deck of cards, you can stay entertained for hours with countless card games. If you're living alone, download Houseparty so you can play games with friends and family from afar. 

Stay Connected 


Humans are social beings that thrive from connection and interaction. If you're living with roommates, friends, family, or a partner, you're very lucky! I hope you take a second to feel grateful that you're in quarantine with loved ones.

Make sure that you don't isolate in your room for the entire day. You could make a point to have more meals and conversations together. Perhaps you could have a weekly night for games, movies, and reading.

If you're living alone, take advantage of all of the technology. There's FaceTime, Skype, HouseParty, and Zoom! Ask your friends and family to log in so you can feel connected to each other during this stressful time.

This is not an easy time for our world. It's more important to care about yourself now than ever before! Please don't neglect yourself. Staying engaged - whether it's mentally, physically, emotionally, or spiritually - is paramount to your well-being. 

I hope you enjoy staying connected, burning incense, playing games, and learning new things! Look at quarantine as a way to stay in tune with yourself. Have some fun, break a sweat, learn something interesting, talk to loved ones, and treat yourself!
