How to Stick to Your Healthy Eating Resolution

Happy New Year from Incense Falls! For the next week or so, we're going to be sending blog posts to help you stick 2020 and have it be the best New Year yet!

This time around, you realize that you don’t want to go on a restrictive diet. You’ve tried dieting countless times and it ends in tears and ravenous hunger.

Instead, let’s make the new year about healthy meals and nutrition. It’s possible to be healthy and enjoy a delicious meal, right? Yes!

Eat Until You’re 80% Full

 

 


Remember, this practice is not about depriving yourself. It’s about stopping yourself before you become distressingly full.

I don’t know about you, but most people eat until they’re uncomfortable. You can satiate yourself without eating until you’re in physical pain. Instead of wasting food, go for smaller portions.

Food Diary

 

 


When you write down every little thing that you’ve eaten, you’re less likely to snack on unhealthy foods.

Keeping a food diary holds you accountable to your choices. You have to see it in writing.

Don’t Purchase Unhealthy Foods

 

 


If they’re not in the house, you can’t eat them, right? When you know that there are cookies in the cupboard, you can’t get them out of your head!

You have to devour them until they’re gone. Temptation is bound to get the better of you if your kitchen is filled to the brim with processed foods.

Best to skip the junk food when you’re at the grocery store.  

Carry a Few Healthy Snacks with You

 

 


If you have 20 minutes to prepare, you could hard boil two eggs to stow away in your purse or car. You may get a few weird looks when you pull an egg out of you bag, but ignore the haters.

Check out some low sugar protein bars or shakes. If you need to munch on something, pack an apple or a few carrots.

Eat Slowly

 

 


It can take up to twenty minutes before your brain registers that you’re full. Eating slowly can help you pay attention to satiation cues.

This means putting your utensils down between bites every now and then. Chew each bite 30 times. Your digestive system will thank you!
