How to Boost Your Immune System Naturally 👊🦠

Self-care is important now more than ever. Not much is known about COVID-19, but what we do know is that strengthening our immune system is the best thing we can do right now.

To help out the Incense Falls community, I've put together a short list of habits you can perform at home to better protect & prepare yourself against Coronavirus.

Eat More Plants & Less Animals

It's now common knowledge that consuming animal products weighs & slows down all of our vital bodily functions, including our immune system.

Foods like eggs, meat, & dairy is not easy for humans to digest. As a result, blood is pulled from other parts of the body to the digestive system to help the body break down these foods. This is often why you feel tired or groggy after eating these kinds of foods.

On the other hand, plants are much easier to digest than animal products, and are also more nutrient dense. A lot of animal products that claim to be loaded with certain nutrients either have low quality versions of these nutrients, or lose them after being cooked.

Plus, a lot of plants are loaded with Vitamin C, a crucial vitamin for immune system efficiency. Vitamin C supplements are okay, but getting it directly from food is far superior.

Move Your Body & Get Outside

As I said before, social distancing is the best thing we can do to prevent the spread. However, staying inside & breathing in the same, low oxygen, circulated air isn't optimal.

Don't succumb to the fear mongering, but also be responsible with this. Go for a walk or a jog around the block, or better yet go for a hike in nature.

Of course, avoid areas that are densely populated and steer clear of other people if you come across someone else. Getting in nature greatly reduces stress, which is the biggest factor in reducing immunity, which dovetails nicely into my next point...

Constantly being plugged into the news or social media will skyrocket your stress levels; there is nothing good coming out of these channels at the moment.

Don't get me wrong, it's important to be informed. But trust me; if something serious happens, you'll find out.

Unplug from your screens and read a book, meditate on your Incense Falls burner, play with your pet - anything that includes real-world interaction is crucial for your mental well-being, and subsequently your immune system.

The Wim Hof Method

You may have seen Wim Hof AKA "The Iceman" on TV or in your social feed lately. He's the guy who's climbed Mt. Everest in his shorts & no shirt, stay submerged in ice for hours, and other incredible cold feats.

He pulls these stunts to bring attention to the method he's developed; The Wim Hof Method. (WHM)

After over 30 years of ridicule, self-experimentation, and university studies, Wim has successfully developed a method that boosts the immune system, strengthens the cardiovascular system, reduces stress & anxiety, and much, much more.

The WHM is made of 3 pillars:

  1. Cold Exposure (Can be a cold shower, ice bath, or cold body of water.)
  2. Breathing Exercises
  3. A Committed Mindset

This, without a doubt, is the most powerful & effective tool that you can add to your daily routine to strengthen your immune system. This is beyond speculation; all claims he has made has been proven by dozens of scientific studies from some of the best research institutes around the globe.

It only takes ~15 minutes a day, and has a free app that you can download to learn how to start your WHM practice now. (Available on Android & iOs)

The only thing more dangerous than Coronavirus is fear.

If we all take care of ourselves and be conscious about our daily habits, we can seriously slow the spread and effects of the virus.

We will persevere, together.
